6th US Infantry 1812 - in the UK

This group made their debut last weekend in Kent and they apparently went down very well. What is it about Wales that it produces really top notch groups? Image from Nigel of the Lexington Minute Company who are producing some 1812 militia for this summer's bicentennial events.

Regiment de la Reine by Louis Frégier

This is a rare treat - an artist of real talent painting some F and I images and from the French perspective. I saw this on Jean-Luc Galliano's Facebook page.

Drawing French America - Francis Back

Webpage here. This is an exhibition - looks well worth attending if you live nearby - they say...

'This totally new exhibition will be the very first devoted to Francis Back, one of Quebec’s rare historical illustrators. A talented artist with his own personal style, Francis Back’s reputation is an enviable one among historical museums.
Using an approach both historical and esthetic, the exhibition that the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum is devoting to him will be an evocative one, exploring the rich world of the artist, both creative and playful, and the various facets of his work. The unusual and colourful approach of this exhibit will fascinate both specialists and the public at large who will be able to see an exclusive selection of more than sixty works, outline drawings and sketches.

Thomsomfeld tells me this is from the time of the Pontiac Rebellion when he contraversially considered giving blankets infected with small pox to natives.
